Ghana’s Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Kwabena Duffuor joined delegates from 30 other developing countries to participate in the 2nd Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) High Level Meeting on April 20,2012 at the World Bank in Washington, DC.

Ghana’s Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Kwabena Duffuor joined delegates from 30 other developing countries to participate in the 2nd Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) High Level Meeting on April 20, 2012 at the World Bank in Washington, DC. The Participants including representatives from donor countries ,UN and Non-governmental organisations announced serious commitments that will increase access to sustainable sanitation facilities and improved drinking water sources to millions of people across the globe.
Dr. Duffuor presented Ghana’s statement of commitments under the theme, Economics of Sanitation and Water. The statement affirms governments’ commitment to increase access to improved sanitation for about 10 million Ghanaians by 2015, thus raising the proportion of Ghanaians using improved sanitation facilities from 14% in 2010 to 54% in 2015.
The Government of Ghana also expressed its commitment to adopt the Service Delivery Approach to ensure that facilities continue to deliver a basic level of service for all.
The Ghanaian delegation to the High Level Meeting was made up of the Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Kwabena Duffuor; Minister for Water Resource Works and Housing, Hon. E.T. Mensah; Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo; Chief Director of the Minister of Water Resource Works and Housing, Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu; Director of Water, Dr. Sumana Al-Hassan; and Dr. Asamoah Baah a, a Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning .
