Webinar "From building infrastructure to creating support mechanisms for rural water supplies"

The rural water supply sector is moving from a focus on building systems to increase coverage, towards one of creating mechanisms to ensure that these systems provide sustainable services. Particularly piped supplies require well-performing and professional (community-based) service providers responsible for operation and maintenance . These in turn need ongoing support and supervision from external entities, particularly local governments, for those activities that are outside their capacity and scope.
This webinar will present examples of the mechanisms – particularly institutional and financial ones - that are in place for supporting community-based service providers. The morning session, which will be in English, will focus on experiences from Asia (India and Timor Leste), while during the Spanish afternoon session experiences will be presented from Latin America (Nicaragua and Bolivia).
