Philanthropedia has listed the IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre as one of the 15 top international WASH non-profits. IRC is ranked 4th behind WaterAid, Water for People and UNICEF.

Out of 106 organisations reviewed, Philanthropedia selected the top 15 and asked 116 WASH experts to identify which ones were making the biggest positive impact in the field.

Experts commented on the impact each non-profit has had, what the non-profit’s other organizational strengths are, and how each organisation could further improve.

IRC's evidence of impact was summarised as follows:

"IRC is innovative in its research and approach. They are focused on sustainability, for example sustainable delivery of WASH services. They are sensitive to local needs, for example their website is highly credible and comprehensive and is catered towards developing countries, and they partner with regional entities to understand local problems".
