On 25 January 2013, Kwabena Nyarko, on behalf of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre (IRC), presented concepts of the life-cycle costs approach and findings from the scoping mission for WASHCost to expand into Sierra Leone.

Mr. Nyarko presented in Freetown, Sierra Leone to the Water Director of the Ministry of Water Resources, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Fourah Bay College, the Local Government Finance Department, and Adam Smith International.
Feedback from the audience was positive, stating that the start of WASHCost Sierra Leone in January 2013 is timely and very important.
WASHCost Sierra Leone will run for 12 months until January 2014 in order to assess the life-cycle costs of in-country WASH services.
