For people of Chirimbi, Gana and Jamus, all communities dotted in Jigawa State, getting good drinking water has been life ambition.

But their dreams, it seemed, are sunk with the holes drilled by the contractors. For, close to two years after the new boreholes were sunk and the reservoirs built, the villagers are still waiting for the first drop of water from the projects.

The most worrisome aspect of the whole scenario is the allegation that some of the contractors have been fully paid for the abandoned projects.

Former legislator, Hon. Nasiru Garba Dantiye recently, submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to ask for an investigation of the abandoned rural water schemes in forty six communities in Babura and Garki local government areas of Jigawa state.
