Muleba, Tanzania, 17-Jan-08 (UN-HABITAT)
President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania inaugurated a project to improve access to clean water for the residents of Muleba town, some 600 km north east of Dar es Salaam. Muleba is one of the six towns participating in the first phase of the Lake Victoria Region Water and Sanitation Initiative (LVWATSAN), which is being implemented in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
Bert Diphoorn, Acting Director of the Human Settlements Financing Division of UN-HABITAT, revealed that the second phase of the LVWATSAN would be expanded to include Rwanda and Burundi.
