On 4 September 2012, the Water Integrity Network (WIN) Foundation was established in The Hague, Netherlands. The new foundation was established to make it possible for WIN to be the recipient of grants through this legal entity in addition to funds that continue to be received through Transparency International as legal representative of the WIN secretariat. The secretariat will continue to be hosted by Transparency International in Berlin, Germany.

The WIN Foundation will share its office with WIN founding member the IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, in the International Water House in The Hague.

Ravi Narayanan, Chair of the International Steering Committee (ISC) of WIN Secretariat, was appointed Chair of the new WIN Foundation Board. Other members are Jack Moss (Aquafed and member of the WIN ISC) as Secretary, Håkan Tropp (UNDP Water Governance Facility at SIWI and member and former chair of the WIN ISC) as Treasurer, and Henk Van Schaik, advisor of the World Water Development Programme of the United Nations and Member of UPEACE in The Hague.
