Vergnet Hydro and IRC will work together to improve knowledge in the water sector using the life-cycle cost approach and the service delivery approach. The two organisations aim to find sustainable solutions for key problem areas in the water sector including: water supply, equipment maintenance, and operations in rural areas in developing countries.

This MoU serves as a framework agreement for creating and promoting joint activities in the following main areas:

  • Developing and implementing research-action projects which improve management of rural water services - particularly operation and maintenance;
  • Improving capacities of local authorities in understanding the issues of water management and keeping them informed on decisions which may facilitate planning and monitoring of water services delivery;
  • Disseminating knowledge related to water services management by making accessible selected data to local authorities and national departments.
