Mole Conference Series takes place in Ghana

Over 150 stakeholders from the water and sanitation sector attended the 2011 edition of the Mole Conference Series at the Western Region of Ghana from August 10 to 12,2011 . The Conference organized by the Ghana Coalition of NGO’s in the Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS) ,was under the theme : Towards Decentralized Wash Services Delivery: Challenges and Lessons.

The Mole Conference series is the biggest Multi-Stakeholder annual platform in the WASH sector in Ghana. The three day conference brought together policy makers and implementers, local authorities, representatives from civil society, academia, non-governmental organizations, private sector and the media, to dialogue, learn and share knowledge/information on specific themes that affect the sector.

The Triple-S Country Team Leader ,Mrs. Vida Affum Duti gave a presentation on behalf of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) ,IRC and Triple-S Ghana Project.
Her presentation was under the sub theme :Governance, accountability and aid effectiveness: Towards sustainable rural water services.

The presentation among others made reference to the linkages of how governance, accountability and aid effectiveness contribute to sustainability of water services ; the fundamental building blocks for sustainable water services; steps taken by CWSA in collaboration with IRC /Triple-S to increase awareness of the challenges faced in making rural water services sustainable, and using awareness as a basis for identifying areas for reform and innovation.

Mrs Duti called for all stakeholders to “commit to an accountable, sustainable sector that is well governed and thus make aid in the sector more effective”.
