On Tuesday 23 October 2012, the Triple-S Project presented synthesis findings from baseline data collected from three pilot districts on rural water services in Ghana to a Technical Committee  of the Community  Water and Sanitation Agency. The findings are based on data collected  from the Akatsi, East Gonja and  Sunyani West Districts on functionality of facilities, level of water services provided and performance of service provider and support and service authority functions.

Following the presentation, emerging issues from the study and areas for   further action research areas from the findings were discussed. Concept notes on the following research areas where discussed with the participants.

  • Improving monitoring of rural and small town water services in Ghana: development and piloting
  • Improving monitoring of rural and small town water services in Ghana: scaling up and systemic change
  • Strengthening hand pump spare parts supply chain and facilitating quick delivery of repair services in Ghana
  • Case study: What works and what does not work
  • Improving sector learning and adaptive capacity by applying a learning alliance approach
  • Strengthening government leadership to take ownership and coordinate sustainable delivery of water services
