Abstract | This paper reviews current application of Rain Water Cistern Systems and results of related research, in both developed and developing countries. Particular note is made of practises and research in Nova Scotia, Canada, and of applications in Bermuda. Differences in considerations involved in applications of the technology in developing and developed countries are reviewed. Construction practises, capacity design, water quality considerations, and institutional considerations are discussed. Rain water cistern systems are considered a safe and reliable source of domestic water supply that is an appropriate technology in many parts of the world |
