This brochure consists of a general description of the Bank-Netherlands Water Partnership (BNWP) and a number of project samples. The mission of the BNWP is to improve delivery of water supply and sanitation services to the poor. Activities center on providing support to solve short-term problems in actual cases, testing policy and service delivery innovations, and filling gaps in existing knowledge in the water sector as a whole. The program supports sector reform with a strong focus on poverty. It is increasingly clear that a single management model will not be sufficient to deliver universal water supply and sanitation services. Sector reforms must be adapted to the social, economical, political, and cultural circumstances of each country.
