Full Text | The need for a public latrine facility at Sahapur Bazaar is obvious. The weekly cattle market day on Thursdays is the biggest of its kind in south west Bangladesh and open defecation by people and animals has long been the norm. On a "Hat" day over 20,000 people come to buy and sell cattle, which itself numbers in the hundreds. During Qorbanni Eid for each of head of cattle there can be up to 50 buyers. The other days the market and surrounds plays host to small goods stores as well as vegetable and fish markets. |
