Abstract | This webinar presents the findings from two case studies the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to improve reporting of rural water supply: Mobiles for Water (M4W) in Uganda (presenter Jen Williams) and the national water and sanitation monitoring system in Timor Leste, Sistema Informasaun Bee no Saneamentu (SIBS) in Timor Leste (presenter Joseph Pearce, IRC). The presenters discuss the factors which have influenced and inhibited the success of reporting, processing and acting on the results of data. Conclusions are drawn on the potentials and pitfalls of implementing rural water supply monitoring using ICT. The two case studies were undertaken as part the "Lessons from ICT projects to improve rural water supplies" project (June 2014 - July 2015) carried out by WaterAid, ITAD and IRC as part of the Making All Voices Count initiative. A link to the project website and the Powerpoint presentation by Joseph Pearce are provided below. |
