What support do panchayats (village councils) need in terms of expertise and resources to manage wastewater? A webinar hosted by the India Chapter of the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance, IRC, WaterAid and India Sanitation Coalition.

The second phase of India's national sanitation campaign, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM II), in addition to consolidating the gains from SBM phase I, focuses on solid and liquid waste management. Under the guidelines, village water and sanitation committees (VWSCs) are the nodal organization to plan and manage wastewater. They need to plan, oversee execution and maintain wastewater treatment methods. But this is an uphill task as these do not exist or are dysfunctional in most states.
What support do panchayats (village councils) need in terms of expertise and resources to manage wastewater? The "Webinar on Grey Water Management under SBM Phase II" is hosted by the India Chapter of the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance, IRC, WaterAid and India Sanitation Coalition on 28 August 2020 from 15:30 to 17:00 IST. It brings together government officials and wastewater experts with the experience of working in rural India to discuss how best to guide panchayats in this regard.
