Abstract

This letter describes the LePSA method for training mothers to recognise different severity levels of diarrhoea and treat each appropriately or seek professional help. LePSA stands for Learner-centered (Le) training which involves three phases: Problem-posing (P), Self-discovery (S), and Action (A). An outline lesson plan for oral rehydration therapy (ORT) is presented. Because of its simplicity, the LePSA method can be used to teach diarrhoeal disease control cross-culturally.
